What Services Does Coles Mobile Offer?

Being a giant in supermarkets, Coles Group decided to launch prepaid mobile plans. So, it came up with Coles Mobile in October 2015 which offered prepaid SIM-only mobile plans. Being a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO), it uses the Optus 4G network for all types of mobile telecommunication services in Australia.

Basically, there are only three prepaid SIM-only mobile plans provided by this MVNO. You can choose any of these according to your suitability. They are known for their simplicity. However, there are no contracts or billed monthly plan options available currently.

How Much Does Coles Mobile Cost?

Three prepaid plans offered by Coles Mobile are as follows:

  • Prepaid $10 Plan: This prepaid SIM only plan expires after 10 days. It includes unlimited standard national calls, text national messages, and national multimedia messages. You get 1 GB of high-speed 4G data using Optus 4G network. You will be charged at $0.010 per 1MB for extra data usage.
  • Prepaid $20 Plan: This prepaid SIM only plan expires after 35 days. It includes unlimited standard national calls, text national messages, and national multimedia messages. You get 6 GB of high-speed 4G data using Optus 4G network. There is a special offer for new customers. New users will get 3 GB bonus data on the first recharge. The special offer ends on 6th February 2018. You will be charged at $5 per 500 MB for extra data usage. This expires after 7 days.
  • Prepaid $40 Plan: This prepaid SIM only plan expires after 35 days. It includes unlimited standard national calls, text national messages, and national multimedia messages. You get 20 GB of high-speed 4G data using Optus 4G network. There is a special offer for new customers. New users will get 10 GB bonus data on the first recharge. The special offer ends on 6th February 2018. You will be charged at $5 per 500 MB for extra data usage. This expires after 7 days. Apart from this, you will also get up to 250 international calling minutes to selected countries.

What Extras Does Coles Mobile Offer?

$40 prepaid plan gives you an extra 250 standard international calling minutes to selected countries. These selected countries are mainland China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, UK, and the USA. If you wish to get extra international credit, then recharge with $5 or $15 extras credit option. This expires after 14 days. Rates for international calls start at $0.04/minute, with no connection fee.

FlyBuys customers can use 500 points to cut $2.50 off their $10 recharge, though that wouldn’t be a very good use of rewards points. As with Coles in general, you receive 1 point for every $1 spent.

ADVANTAGES

  • Easy 4G access: All the three prepaid plan options use Optus 4G network. You get good wide area coverage.
  • Affordable recharge price: $10, $20 and $40 are the recharge prices of Coles Mobile plans. They are quite affordable and easy to suit your needs.
  • Use FlyBuys points for credit: FlyBuys customers can use 500 reward points to cut $2.50 off their $10 prepaid recharge plan. This freedom to use FlyBuys points could prove to be very useful.

DISADVANTAGES

  • Questionable value: If you look at the unlimited standard national calls, text national messages and national multimedia messages, then $10 prepaid plan is very good. But at the same time, this plan is valid for 10 days only. Recharging after every 10 days can be quite frustrating.
  • No contract plans: Subsidized handsets or contract plans are not available with this Mobile Virtual Network Operator.

Coles Mobile Prepaid Recharge Options

  • Online from your Desktop: Log into Coles Mobile web portal from your desktop’s web browser. Register to recharge your account. Payments are accepted via major credit cards and debit cards and, via Internet Banking or from a pre-purchased voucher. You can choose from various payment gateway options like Visa, MasterCard, American Express, JCB Card, or PayPal.
  • Via phone call: Dial 555 from your Coles Mobile connected handset to directly access the recharge service.
  • Via Recharge Vouchers: Major retailers, local stores, and supermarkets have recharge vouchers. You can purchase and apply it to your account via any of the recharge methods listed above.
