What Services Does GoTalk Offer?
Being an MVNO, GoTalk utilizes the services of the Vodafone 4G network. Vodafone is one of the four major telecommunications companies of Australia. Services offered are prepaid mobile plans and wireless broadband plans. You must have a compatible smartphone to bring to this MVNO so that easily use all of its offered services.
How Much Does GoTalk Cost?
Basically, you can select from five prepaid mobile plans. Out of five, two are pay as you go plans (PAYG). PAYG plans mean that you can deposit a set quantity of capital against a given plan and use that credit as you see fit for calls, text messages and data usage. These Pay as you go plans have the validity of 90 days and are of $10 each per recharge. Their names are Straight Talk plus Plan and Anytime Plan.
Other three SIM only prepaid mobile plans are Aussie 40 Plan, Aussie 30 Plan and Max Plan. Their prices are $40, $30 and $10 per recharge respectively. You get unlimited standard national calls and text messages on Aussie 40 Plan and Aussie 30 Plan. Extra data is charged at 5 cents per additional MB data usage.
Max Plan: Peak periods are defined as 11 am to midnight. Off-peak periods are defined as midnight to 11 am. Calls to other networks during peak periods are charged at 19 cents per minute with a 30c flagfall. Costs to call during off-peak periods drop to 10 cents per minute plus a 30c flagfall. If you’re contacting another GoTalk mobile, the first 5 minutes of any call are free, and then 19 cents per minute plus 30c flagfall during peak and 10 cents per minute plus 30c flagfall in off-peak times. Text messages are 15 cents to mobiles on other networks or 5 cents to GoTalk mobiles. Multimedia messages cost 80 cents each whether they’re for same network mobiles or other networks.
GoTalk International Call Rates
You get the benefit of international calls in the Straight Talk plus Plan. International calls start from 0.5 cents per minute to selected countries. The table below shows international calling rates to various destinations.

What Extras Does GoTalk Have To Offer?
The Anytime Plan does not charge you for calls to landlines beyond a simple 29 cents flagfall. So if you call regular phones often, it could prove to be a very good value. Apart from this, Straight Talk plus Plan offers you international calls to selected locations.
ADVANTAGES
- Low entry barrier: Pay as you go plans start from as low as $10 per recharge. This quite low when compared to other MVNOs plans.
- Decent international call rates: If you have friends and close ones in a lot of countries, then this is a good mobile carrier. It offers decent international call rates to multiple destinations.
DISADVANTAGES
- Confusing call costs: The plan pricing is such that you end up using your credit faster than you think.
- Global calling but no international roaming: International calls are allowed with the Straight Talk plus Plan. But you do not get the benefit of international roaming. This service is not supported.
